Watch What Happens When the Sole White Guest on CNN Panel Calls Beyonce's Controversial Performance 'Racist
February 24, 2016
“Well, it’s also racist.”
A CNN panel had a strong reaction to a guest’s claim that Beyonce’s controversial Super Bowl 50 performance was “racist.”
“Some say her performance is anti-police with the reference to the Black Panthers and Black Lives Matter movement. ... Do you feel it was anti-police?” host Don Lemon asked.
“Well, it’s also racist,” former NYPD Detective Harry Houck replied.
The rest of the panel clearly did not agree. They could be seen laughing and rolling their eyes.
Houck cited Beyonce's “support of the black liberation army” as proof of his claim.
“Dressing up her dancers like the BLA definitely tells me that was a racist statement and shows support for an organization that has murdered and assassinated police officers.”
Panelist Bakari Sellers replied that most police officers serve “with such honor,” but Beyonce is speaking to “a very specific pain” felt by African-Americans.
