Bernie Baby' Dies Suddenly, Just Weeks After the 4-Month-Old Became an Internet Sensation

"Oliver was happy, joyful and full of love, and he shared that with everyone he came into contact with."

The 4-month-old Los Angeles child dubbed by the Internet as the "Bernie Baby" has died of sudden infant death syndrome just weeks after the wee Democratic presidential candidate lookalike endeared himself to Americans of both political parties.

Oliver Jack Carter Lomas-Davis passed away suddenly Feb. 25, his aunt Anastasia Lomas told the Associated Press. The 4-month-old baby stole hearts across the nation after pictures of him attending a political rally for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in Las Vegas with his mother while sporting a wild white wig and enormous black spectacles spread across social media.

Even Sanders himself seemed captivated by Oliver.

"Oliver was happy, joyful and full of love, and he shared that with everyone he came into contact with," Lomas told the AP Thursday. "He was extremely healthy and was tragically taken too early by SIDS."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that SIDS is defined as the sudden death of an infant less than 1 year of age that cannot be explained even after a thorough investigation has been conducted, WNYW-TV noted.

Michael Briggs, the spokesman for Sanders, stated that the senator had been told of Oliver's death, adding that the campaign planned to issue a statement.

"It's very sad," Briggs told the AP.

Bernie Baby's mother, Susan Lomas, posted a tribute to her son on Facebook, saying, "I love you dearly, I love you most. I love you with all my heart and soul. I know that God will keep you near since God and truth are here."
