Kill All the Jews': Uber Driver Sentenced Over Road Rage Incident

"If this was the other way around and Muslims were being insulted, I have a good feeling you would feel strongly."

A British judge called the behavior of an Uber driver “horrible” during a sentencing hearing for the man, who reportedly shouted “kill all the Jews” during a road rage incident, Britain’s ITV reported Friday.

According to British media reports on the court proceedings, the driver, Rashal Miah, after getting stuck in traffic in 2014 shouted anti-Semitic slurs at an Orthodox Jewish man driving a school bus full of children.

The Hackney Gazette reported that Miah had emerged from his vehicle and called bus driver “Yehudi,” which means Jew in Arabic and in Hebrew.

“I accept this was mainly driven by you being wrongly angry and suffering from road rage, as well as being arrogant about what you were entitled to do on the road,” Judge Murray Shanks told Miah upon sentencing him. “I hope it doesn’t indicate some underlying prejudice.”

“If this was the other way around and Muslims were being insulted, I have a good feeling you would feel strongly. You need to understand that before you open your mouth,” Shanks said.

The judge ordered Miah to 15 days of anger management sessions and 100 hours of community service for the 2014 incident and noted that he had been “wrongly angry and suffering from road rage, as well as being arrogant about what you were entitled to do on the road.”

Uber told ITV that the driver has now been removed from the service.

“Uber does not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind and we were appalled to hear about this incident,” Tom Elvidge, General Manager of Uber in London said in a statement.

“Following our own investigations and today’s conviction, we have taken the decision to stop this licensed private hire driver from using the Uber app,” Elvidge added.

ITV reported that he was also handed a 26-week suspended sentence for using threatening, abusive or insulting words intending to cause fear or provoke violence.

The driver’s defense counsel told the court that he did not hold underlying racist beliefs and that he understood the seriousness of the offense, the Hackney Gazette reported.

His counsel pleaded with the judge to spare Miah jail time because he was the main provider for a wife, parents and a child, the Gazette added.
