Outfielder Breaks MLB Statcast Record With This 105.5 MPH Laser Throw to Nail Runner at Home Plate
April 20, 2016
"He's out! Oh, what a throw by Hicks!"
New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks broke a Major League Baseball Statcast record Wednesday, with a laser beam throw to nail a runner attempting to score at home plate.
The throw, which came at the top of the fourth inning, was recorded at 105.5 mph — the fastest outfield throw ever tracked by Statcast. It blazed past Oakland Athletics player Danny Valencia to nail him at the plate.
?"He's out! Oh, what a throw by Hicks!" a sportscaster said after the play. "[H]icks has a great arm, but he shows it off right here."
