First Peek at Trump’s Highly Anticipated Interview With Megyn Kelly: ‘I Wouldn’t Have Done That\

"An electric morning."

Donald Trump has "great respect" for Fox News' Megyn Kelly, the Manhattan billionaire said in a recently released clip of Kelly's interview with the presumptive Republican nominee.

The highly publicized feud between Kelly and Trump began after she pressed him on his treatment of women and other topics during a Fox News Republican debate in August, and it continued to snowball for several months.

"You seemed to stay angry for months. Was that real or was that strategy?" Kelly asked during the interview, a clip of which was shown on ABC's "Live with Kelly and Michael" Monday morning.

"Well, I'm a real person. I don't say, 'Oh gee, I'm angry tonight but tomorrow you're my best friend,'" Trump said, adding that "this could happen with us again."

"I have great respect for you — that you were able to call me and say, 'Let's get together, and let's talk.' To me, I would not have done that," Trump admitted.

Kelly told the "Live" hosts that the clip showed "the most interesting part of the Trump interview" in her opinion.

"After months of him being very unhappy with me, I reached out to him, I tried to reach out to him from the beginning, from the Aug. 6 debate, because I am a journalist," Kelly said. "I want to be on the sidelines. I don't want to be on the playing field; he kept putting me on the playing field, and I just wanted to get past that. But he was angry for so long, and I didn't want to reach out to him while he was angry."

The anchor continued to say that there was "a lull in the attacks in April" and that she "seized upon it" to set up a meeting with the real-estate mogul. Kelly said her time at Trump Tower was an "electric morning" but added that the two did not discuss anything that had happened between them during that meeting.

Asked her thoughts on the election, Kelly shared that she thinks the GOP will "probably" unify around Trump as their nominee because "for Republicans, Hillary [Clinton] is the great unifier."

Kelly's interview with the Republican presidential candidate is set to air May 17.
