Krauthammer: 'Civil war' breaks out in the GOP tomorrow

Fox News commentator Charles Krauthammer is predicting a "civil war" will begin within the Republican Party starting Wednesday, the day after Election Day. One of the main reasons, he said on Fox News, is Trump is not "a guy who will lose and walk away."

"He feels he has created something," Krauthammer said Tuesday. "I think he is right about that."

The Fox opinion maker went on to describe the boisterous Republican nominee as "the kingmaker" who will become "a de-facto leader of the party," regardless of the outcome.

The divide comes in with House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who Krauthammer said represents the "older" wing of the Republican Party that surfaced under the reign of former President Ronald Reagan.

If Trump wins, Krauthammer argued the billionaire businessman will "irreversibly reshape" the GOP, bringing his "total conflict" with Ryan to a fever pitch. He predicted a Trump administration would attempt to "depose" the House speaker.

"This was the party of Reagan," Krauthammer said. "And the Bush years were sort of an echo of the Reagan years. Reagan defined the contours of the party — Trump will do that. It'll be changed, particularly the most obvious issues are gonna be immigration and trade."

"This will be a populist party," he continued. "The country will not have a conservative party in the sense of a Reaganite party."
