Comedian Chelsea Handler stirred controversy on social media Friday after she called for a military coup to overthrow President Donald Trump.

Handler's comments come as political and military tension between the U.S. and North Korea escalates.
On Wednesday, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un threatened to attack the Western Pacific U.S. territory of Guam with missiles.
As TheBlaze reported, a North Korean news agency reported this week: "North Korea’s strategic force is 'seriously examining the plan for an enveloping strike at Guam through simultaneous fire of four Hwasong-12 intermediate-range strategic ballistic rockets in order to interdict the enemy forces on major military bases on Guam and to signal a crucial warning to the U.S.'"
Trump has repeatedly responded to North Korea's aggression with assurances that attacking the U.S., its territories or any of its allies is the last thing that Kim Jong-Un and the North Koreans will want to attempt.
"Military solutions are now fully in place,locked and loaded,should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!" Trump wrote on Twitter Friday.
Handler's comments were met with condemnation and mockery online.

Handler is currently host of "Chelsea" on Netflix. She is a fierce opponent of Trump and was an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton in last year's presidential election.
The comedian's comments came just days after she spoke out about the possibility of the U.S. resembling a military state:
