A Miami woman delivered her own baby when paramedics couldn’t reach her during Hurricane Irma, city officials said Sunday.
The city of Miami's Twitter account said that paramedics were unable to access the woman’s home during the storm, so they coached her through the delivery over the phone. She gave birth to a baby girl.

Assistant Fire Chief Eloy Garcia told the Miami Herald that “we weren’t able to respond” to the woman’s call for help.
“So she delivered the placenta, also. Dispatch told her how to tie it off. She’s stable at home,” Garcia said. “We made contact with the assistant medical director here. Talked things through.”
The unnamed mother and baby were later taken to the hospital.

Florida’s Sun-Sentinel newspaper speculated that “maybe she'll be named Irma.”
According to The Associated Press, more than 3.3 million homes and businesses across Florida lost power due to strong winds from the storm.
