January 22, 2018
Black clothing-clad members of Antifa set fire to an American flag during a Center City Philadelphia demonstration Saturday, but a patriotic law enforcement officer reportedly stepped in to dispose of the flag's remains in the most honorable of ways, according to KYW-TV.
What happened?
SEPTA Police Chief Thomas J. Nestel III on Saturday tweeted that the incident occurred at 16th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard.
Nestel shared a photo of unidentified demonstrators engaging in the flag-burning, and captioned it, "Antifa protesting at 16/JFK."

Nestel later tweeted that an unidentified Philadelphia police officer walked over to the desecrated flag, saluted its remains and collected the ashes for proper disposal.
"The burned flag left on the ground by Antifa received a crisp salute from @PhillyPolice Officer who then collected the remains for proper disposal," Nestel wrote.

Nestel later added that he didn't believe the demonstration had anything to do with the weekend's nationwide Women's March.
"The burning of the flag had nothing to do with the march," he wrote.
