31 student-run organizations at Harvard say Israel 'entirely' at fault for Hamas attacks

More than 30 student organizations at Harvard University have made their opinions known about the conflict in the Middle East, claiming that Israel is completely at fault for Hamas' attacks against Jewish citizens.

Following 700 deaths and a number of kidnappings by Hamas over the weekend, 31 student organizations teamed up and collectively published a letter entitled, "Joint Statement by Harvard Palestine Solidarity Groups on the Situation in Palestine." Among the groups was Harvard's affiliate of Amnesty International, per the New York Post.

Robert P. George, a professor at Princeton University, wrote his thoughts on X about the disturbing development, posting: "31--yes 31--Harvard organizations have declared that the murders, rapes, kidnappings, and other atrocities committed by Hamas against innocent people are in no way the fault of Hamas, but are rather entirely the fault of ... Israel. Something is deeply, deeply wrong in academia."

Another X user responded to George's post, writing: "Many elite universities have turned into hubs for neo-marxist indoctrination of all sorts and parents have zero clue."

The letter in question began: "We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence."

"Today’s events did not occur in a vacuum. For the last two decades, millions of Palestinians in Gaza have been forced to live in an open-air prison. Israeli officials promise to ‘open the gates of hell,’ and the massacres in Gaza have already commenced. Palestinians in Gaza have no shelters for refuge and nowhere to escape. In the coming days, Palestinians will be forced to bear the full brunt of Israel’s violence."

Among the long list of groups involved in the letter were the Harvard Islamic Society, the Society of Arab Students, the Harvard Jews for Liberation, and the Harvard Divinity School Muslim Association, according to Fox News.

The letter went on to specifically target the "apartheid regime" in Israel that has apparently forced Palestinians to retaliate.

"The apartheid regime is the only one to blame," the letter said. "Israeli violence has structured every aspect of Palestinian existence for 75 years. From systematized land seizures to routine airstrikes, arbitrary detentions to military checkpoints, and enforced family separations to targeted killings, Palestinians have been forced to live in a state of death, both slow and sudden."

"Today, the Palestinian ordeal enters into uncharted territory," the letter concluded. "The coming days will require a firm stand against colonial retaliation. We call on the Harvard community to take action to stop the ongoing annihilation of Palestinians."

The letter in question did not appear to hold Hamas or Palestinians responsible for any of the attacks they have carried out, which included the kidnapping of a German-Israeli tattoo artist, who was stripped naked and paraded through the Gaza Strip.
