Stunning cellphone video captures the moment a man takes gun from officer and shoots at her
September 04, 2019
The officer was not hurt, and suffered few injuries
A stunning cellphone video captured a harrowing scene as a man pummeled a female deputy, stole her gun, and shot at her before being taken down by other police officers.
The scene unfolded in Victorville, California, on Wednesday.
The officer was apparently responding to a report of a domestic dispute before she was assaulted by the 22-year-old man.
As a neighbor recorded video from his cellphone of the attack, the man grabbed the officer's handgun, and she ran away. He can be seen firing at least one shot at her.
Seconds later in the dramatic video, police cruisers speed to the scene and officers yell at him to drop his weapon before their shots can be heard. Police say that although the man put his hands in the air, he did not follow their orders to drop the weapon.
The video quickly went viral on social media, with more than a million views.
The female deputy was not shot, and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries related to the assault.
The male was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries from being shot by police. He was later identified as Ari Young. No officer was shot in the altercation.
