California couple allegedly drugged doctor with ketamine and LSD for nearly a year, stealing millions before his death

A California couple reportedly drugged a doctor with ketamine and LSD for nearly a year in order to take millions from him before he died, according to the New York Post.

A yoga instructor, Anna Moore, and her partner, Anthony Flores, a hairdresser, allegedly drugged a Malibu, California, doctor who had just come out of mental rehabilitation for attempted suicide.

The Californians are accused of getting the man to weekly ketamine injections (allegedly to treat depression), along with feeding him LSD, magic mushrooms, and marijuana. They allegedly spent his money on clothing, parties, and weekend trips while he was drugged.

After meeting the now-deceased Mark Sawusch at an ice cream parlor in California in 2017, the couple allegedly took $3 million from the man. After Sawusch's death, the pair even attempted to take another $20 million.

Sawusch invited the couple to move in with him rent-free shortly after meeting them and referred to them as his "personal 911" and "best friends." He also gave them access to his Tesla to go on a trip.

Soon thereafter, Sawusch was arrested on a battery charge after allegedly assaulting someone on the Santa Monica Pier. He was subject to six days of psychiatric care before the alleged thieves brought him home. Sawusch had previously been hospitalized and jailed several times for things like violent outbursts and manic episodes.

The former surgeon eventually kicked the duo out of his home and called the police to escort them out. Text messages revealed that Sawusch told a friend that he "just realized Anna and Anton are f***ing white collar tax fraud criminals who tried to steal my Tesla and home. OMG. I am sooo gullible."

It wouldn't be until after several more arrests and seven weeks in jail that Sawusch gave in to the couple once again. He granted Flores power of attorney in order to withdraw enough money out of his account to post bail. Afterwards, he invited the two to move back into his home.

Moore and Flores allegedly proceeded to hire 20 housekeepers and six massage therapists and transferred millions of dollars into their own accounts.

Just two weeks before his death, the doctor is said to have been in a visible decline after he was given LSD. Days later, during a 43rd ketamine treatment, he was laughing and pressing forcefully into his eyes and ears.

Despite monitoring the doctor through surveillance cameras, the couple did not call the police until massage therapists found his dead body.

Moore, 39, and Flores, 46, were indicted in February 2023 on felony conspiracy, identity theft, mail fraud, and money laundering.
