Dem governor dances to off-key rendition of 'Feliz Navidad' in embarrassing Christmas video: 'Even the Latinxs are cringing'

A Democrat governor attempted to spread some holiday cheer but wound up inciting social media jeers with his "cringy" rendition of a popular Christmas song that he posted to X.

At 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D), 48, shared a video of himself pumping his fists up and down, flashing jazz hands, and pointing at the camera as he sings an a cappella version of José Feliciano’s 1970 hit, "Feliz Navidad." "¡Feliz Navidad Colorado!" read the attending message.

The video was shot in front of American and Colorado state flags, indicating that Polis made the video as part of his official duties as governor. However, it was posted to an unverified Spanish X account for the governor with just 650 followers, prompting some to wonder whether the video was some kind of parody, perhaps generated via AI. But Polis put all doubts about its authenticity to rest by retweeting it from his personal account.

With provenance established, social media users were free to slam the video, replete with off-key singing and questionable dance moves, amid a surge of illegal migrants pouring into Colorado. "Even the Latinxs are cringing," quipped "Anti-Communist" crusader James Lindsay.

Other notable accounts expressed bewilderment as well. "The Governor of Colorado… yikes," wrote Libs of TikTok. "This is somehow worse than the wolves and rigging our elections," added Mostly Peaceful Memes.

In just the last week or so, nearly 4,000 illegal immigrants have been dropped off in Denver, the New York Post reported, testing the limits of local shelters and the patience of area residents. "We can run out of resources," said Denver Human Services spokesman Jon Ewing. "We are already limited as it is. It strains an already strained system even further."

The crisis has grown so much under his watch that Polis, who was first elected to the governor's office in 2018, had to assure Coloradans earlier this year that the migrants were simply passing through the state on their way to their "final destination" of New York City or Chicago. NYC Mayor Eric Adams responded first by complaining that the intranational migrant shuffle was "unfair" but then seemingly resigned himself that he couldn't do much to stop it. "We've done our job," Adams said. "There's no more room at the end, but we are compelled by local laws here that we must provide shelter."
