Doctor critical of vaccines has personal, business bank accounts abruptly terminated by Chase — executives' accounts also shut down

A prominent doctor who was an outspoken critic of the COVID vaccines recently had his personal and business bank accounts abruptly terminated by JPMorgan Chase, documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed.

Dr. Joseph Mercola took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce that the banking company had closed his accounts without providing a reason.

"Chase bank has shut down our business bank accounts along with the accounts of my CEO and CFO, as well as their family members (including spouse and child). They've refused to provide any reason for doing so, the oldest account has been active for 18 years," Mercola stated.

Accounts linked to Mercola Market, a Florida-based retail health company owned by the doctor, were also reportedly shut down, including the personal accounts of CEO Steven A. Rye, his wife, and CFO Amy Legaspi.

Legaspi claimed that Chase alerted her young adult son that his accounts "are subject for closing." The CFO stated she did not "have any idea" why her personal accounts were closed but was "surprised" by the notification, according to a statement provided by Rye to the DCNF.

Chase reportedly sent letters to Mercola Market on July 13 stating that the company had until September 10 to shut down its accounts. Rye, his wife, and Legaspi were told to cease all account operations by August 11.

"After careful consideration, we decided to close your accounts because of unexpected activity on this or another Chase account," the bank wrote without providing a reason for the sudden termination.

According to Rye, a Chase representative stated, "I was told for legal reasons they cannot tell me why they are closing the accounts." Rye told Florida's Voice that he was informed that his children could not open accounts with Chase in the future.

Rye explained that he believes their accounts were shut down "because of Dr. Mercola's (our employer) opinions."

"He … co-authored the best-selling book 'The Truth About COVID-19,' which exposed the likelihood that this virus was engineered in a laboratory funded by the NIH. He correctly predicted the vaccines would not prevent transmission or infection of COVID-19. He has been directly censored by the Biden administration and is being targeted by politically weaponized agencies," Rye told the DCNF.

A representative for Chase told the outlet, "For privacy reasons, we can't discuss customer relationships, but we don't close accounts because of political affiliations, and we didn't do so in this case."
