Hezbollah to use new weapons in ongoing fight with Israel, blames US for escalation in Gaza

Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group has apparently announced it is prepared to introduce new weapons in the ongoing conflict with Israel. The group has made known that it will use missiles and heavy warheads in its fight against the Jewish state.

Hezbollah's leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has blamed the U.S. for Israel's gradual offensive on the Gaza Strip. Nasrallah reportedly went on to say that Hezbollah will continue to carry out rocket and suicide drone attacks against U.S. troops currently in Syria and Iraq until the conflict in Gaza is brought to an end, according to the Associated Press.

Israel has been operating on two fronts since October 7, when Hamas militants carried out a surprise attack against the Jewish state, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,200 Jews and the abduction of 200 more. Hezbollah attacked Israel's northern border with three suicide drones after an Israeli strike in Syria killed seven of the group's fighters.

While Nasrallah did not overtly take credit for the drone strike in Syria, he referred to the attack as "a great achievement," according to the report. With Hezbollah carrying out attacks on Israel, it has forced the Jewish state to divide its military divisions while attempting to push into Gaza.

Nasrallah said that "[t]he side that can stop this aggression, is the side that is managing this aggression. It is America."

While many Palestinians are disappointed that Hezbollah will not escalate the conflict with Israel, the group has said that their presence at the border will remain active. Soon after the announcement, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that "Hezbollah is dragging Lebanon into a war that might happen," per Reuters.

"It [Hezbollah] is making mistakes and ... those who will pay the price are first and foremost Lebanon's citizens. What we are doing in Gaza we can do in Beirut."

Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that the Jewish state's military had successfully struck a number of Hezbollah targets in response to the group's attack across the border.

Hezbollah has long been at odds with Israel and the U.S. The group was founded by Iran's Revolutionary Guards in 1982, and fought a month-long war against the Jewish state in 2006.

The militant group's offensive against Israel has been in effect since October 8, just one day after Hamas launched its attack against Israel. While the fighting between the two sides has largely remained on the border, it is uncertain how the situation will play out as the conflict in Gaza charges forward.
