VIDEO: Good Samaritan tackles homeless man who sucker-punched and robbed an elderly person in Hollywood

A man in Hollywood, California, is being called a hero after he ran down a homeless man who sucker-punched an elderly man and stole his personal items.

And the incident was all caught on surveillance video.

"I took him down and just waited there until the police arrived," Tim Ratcliff told KTTV-TV.

The security video showed the reportedly homeless man walk into a restaurant and suddenly attack a man sitting behind a pillar. He then runs off with the victim's phone and wallet.

Ratcliff then comes into frame and chases after the man.

He tackles the suspect and the two are seen tumbling into the busy street at the intersection of La Brea and Hollywood. While Ratcliff holds the man down, his girlfriend comes over to help restrain the man until the police arrive.

"I was not gonna lie, the adrenaline was a lot at that point, and afterwards it was exhausting it felt like I had worked out the next day for quite a bit," said Ratcliff.

He said that he was punched in the face by the man but was otherwise unhurt. The video shows that he restrained the suspect for about nine minutes.

Ratcliff said that one the officers told him they were tired of seeing so many homeless attacks on the streets of Los Angeles.

"Even one of the officers and I talked about it, and they're tired of it. A lot of people like myself are tired of this type of thing happening. We're seeing more and more people just not putting up with it and taking it into their own hands," he said.

"Which I'm glad for," Ratcliff concluded. "And I'd happily do it again."
