Greenpeace co-founder destroys AOC's Green New Deal, explains how socialist plan will trigger 'end of civilization'

'...half the population will die in a very short period of time'

Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore, a vocal critic of freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), slammed the socialist Green New Deal on Monday, claiming the policy would result in the demise of human civilization.

What did Moore say?

Speaking with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Moore, who co-founded one of the most prominent environmental organizations in history, said implantation of the Green New Deal, a policy spearheaded by Ocasio-Cortez, would send human existence into a downward spiral.

"It would be basically the end of civilization if 85 percent of the world's and and also 85 percent of the U.S.'s energy in the form of coal, oil, and natural gas were phased out over the next few years, like 10 years," Moore explained.

Moore suggested that nuclear energy could be a viable replacement for electricity, but said the possibility of nuclear energy becoming a prominent energy source is unrealistic because "the greens are against nuclear."

"Basically, they are opposed to approximately 98.5 percent of all the electricity that we are all using and nearly 100 percent of all the vehicle and transportation and ships and planes that we are using," Moore said.

"So when I tweeted the other day and had a huge response — over 3 million impressions on Twitter — when I said 'You don't have a plan to feed 8 billion people without fossil fuels or get the food into the cities where it's needed.' That requires large trucks, and there's not going to be electric trucks anytime soon hauling 40 tons of food into the supermarkets, where the people in the cities probably thinks it originates in the supermarket," he explained.

What else?

Moore went on to say that if fossil fuel energy was banned "agricultural production would collapse in a very short period of time," triggering the demise of human civilization because agriculture and other resources necessary for human flourishing would not have viable transportation into urban centers.

"That will spread out as a rot from the center of metropolises all across the country and half the population will die in a very short period of time," he said.

But the bad news doesn't end there: According to Moore, if the ideas of the Green New Deal were implemented on a global scale, then "there wouldn't be a tree left on this planet" because wood would be the only acceptable, viable energy source.
