Fox News' Pete Hegseth tears into Joy Behar during ‘Fox & Friends’: She has 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' and 'can't get past it'

'I don't know why we cover her'

Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth appeared on Friday's "Fox & Friends," where he blasted "The View" co-host Joy Behar for her stance this week on Republicans and former special counsel Robert Mueller.

What's the background?

Mueller provided testimony to Congress on Wednesday regarding his investigation into Russian collusion and obstruction of justice on President Donald Trump's part.

Republicans largely panned Mueller's testimony, believing that the new testimony resulted in nothing.

During a Thursday appearance on "The View," Behar said that Republicans at large have been "very disrespectful" to Mueller and also "have a tendency to be disrespectful to [U.S.] veterans" as well.

What did Hegseth say?

During his Friday appearance, Hegseth — a veteran — suggested that Behar simply doesn't make sense when she opens her mouth.

"Fox & Friends" co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Hegseth, "Does she make a lot of sense?"

"Did she ever make a lot of sense?" Hegseth fired back. "It's a means of retreat for her. Bob Mueller has a terrible performance. She has the disease of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Can't get past it."

Hegseth went on and explained that Behar doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to defending Mueller and his lackluster testimony, so she resorts to deflecting the blame to Republicans.

"[Mueller] fails, so [Behar] retreats to 'He's a veteran, you can't attack him, shame on you,'" he concluded. "That is a total giveaway statement by her. She never makes any sense. I don't know why we cover her."
