Resident doctor accused of possessing child porn, secretly filming child patients while he examined them

A Massachusetts medical resident has been arrested after both state and federal officials allegedly collected from his homes dozens of devices containing images of child sexual abuse.

Last month, investigators conducted three separate searches of two different residences associated with 32-year-old family medicine resident Bradford Ferrick: one in Winchester, Massachusetts, and one in Amherst, about 90 miles west of Winchester. During those searches, investigators reportedly discovered 80 devices — including external hard drives, computers, cellphones, USB storage devices, and hidden camera systems — which prosecutors believe contain "thousands" of of examples of image and video pornography of children between the ages of 6 and 11.

Of note, agents reportedly seized a bracelet containing a hidden camera. According to the New York Post, investigators believe that Ferrick wore the bracelet while he examined children so that he could secretly film them. There are at least two videos containing such secret footage of minors, investigators claim.

Ferrick has since been placed on leave from his residency.

"I can think of no greater fear as a parent or guardian than potential harm coming to your child. Today we allege that this doctor, who held a position of trust with access to children, maintained child sexual abuse material," said U.S. attorney Rachael Rollins.

On February 13, Ferrick was arrested by state authorities and charged with four counts of child pornography possession. He pled not guilty, posted bail, and was released to home-confinement. On Wednesday, Ferrick was arrested by federal agents and faces one count of possession of child pornography. He will remain in custody until his probable cause hearing on March 21. He faces up to 20 years in prison on the federal count alone.

Ferrick graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University in 2022 and began his residency with Baystate Franklin Family Medicine in July. Between July and February, Ferrick is believed to have participated in rotations in at least Greenfield, Deerfield, and Springfield, Massachusetts, so investigators believe there may be other victims out there. Those who suspect their child may have been violated by Ferrick are encouraged to contact the FBI here.
