In October, Legend and singer Kelly Clarkson revealed the forthcoming release of their version of the longstanding male-female duet, swapping in phrases like "your body, your choice."
Clarkson sings, "What will my friends think..."
To which Legend responds, "I think they should rejoice,"
Clarkson: "...if I have one more drink?'
Legend: "It's your body, and your choice."
What are the details?
During Tuesday's airing of "The Talk," the wife of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne voiced her distaste for Legend's "woke" remake of the hit 1944 song.
“What would John Legend do, if in 40 years, if somebody wanted to … re-record one of his songs, and there was some group that found it offensive, and somebody just went, 'Oh, I can change the lyrics on that,'" Osbourne said, comparing it to changing works of art in museums.
“It's, to me, like a master painting," she reasoned. "You go and see these beautiful nudes in museums all over the world. They're spectacular. Would it be right for me to go and draw a bikini top on one of those nudes? It's a piece of art."
She continued, “To change an innocent lyric, to what is it, 'Your mind and your body'? What the hell are you on? That's ridiculous. I have to tell you, I love John Legend. I love John Legend's wife, his family. He's an amazing artist that I really respect. Why do you do this? That's not right."
Osbourne's co-hosts were in unanimous agreement.
The song is set for a pre-Christmas release.
