‘Straight white men are serial killers’ and ‘the ones who are shooting up schools,’ says San Francisco reparations committee member

A San Francisco reparations advisory committee member recently claimed during an interview with the Telegraph that “straight white men are serial killers” and “the ones who are shooting up schools.”

Nikcole Cunningham, a panelist on the 15-member San Francisco reparations committee, told the Telegraph last week that straight white men are a “danger to society.”

Cunningham claimed that despite being “privileged,” straight white men have “a lot of s*** wrong, and I say that because even straight white men are abusive, straight white men are serial killers.”

“They have the most, I watch these shows, the most serial killers. Straight white men are the ones who are shooting up schools, right?” she continued. “So they are a danger to society. Not all of them.”

Cunningham further criticized white men for “pos[ing] more of a harm than support and help” regarding reparations.

She claimed that white people “got to remember their ancestors ... are the ones who were standing out here in their Sunday best watching black people hang and burn.”

Cunningham called on people to “come to grips with their ancestry” and “make amends.”

She told the Telegraph that “white supremacy is ingrained in the DNA in this country and definitely in this city,” despite slavery never having been legal in San Francisco or California.

San Francisco’s reparations committee, launched in May 2021, recommended giving each black resident $5 million and complete debt forgiveness. The committee stated that residents must be at least 18 years old and have identified as black or African-American on public documents for at least 10 years to be eligible.

The committee also stated that applicants must meet two of eight other criteria, including having been born or moved to San Francisco between 1940 and 1996 with proof of residency for minimally 13 years or being a personal or direct descendant of an individual who was enslaved before 1865.

The committee’s draft report was given to city lawmakers last week.

The Hoover Institution, a conservative think tank, estimated that the committee’s reparations plan would cost the city approximately $175 billion.

Currently, San Francisco’s annual budget is $14 billion.

To cover the costs, which are estimated to average $600,000 for every non-African-American household, Cunningham suggested taxing “water, garbage, PG&E [Pacific Gas and Electric], internet, cable.”

“You adding even $0.05 to these things, you have millions and millions, if not billions of dollars,” Cunningham claimed. “But the simple fact that these are things that you have to use, who’s going to say, I’m not going to give those people reparations, I’ll turn my water off? No one.”

She then compared the cost of reparations to the Biden administration’s $100 billion in military aid to Ukraine, stating, “No one asked us, ‘Hey, Nikcole, can we send this money to Ukraine?’ They just found the money and sent it.”
