Parents heard alleged verbal abuse and threats from day care workers to their 1-year-old after they sewed a recording device into her jacket

A Texas couple was horrified after hearing what was recorded from a recording device sewed into their toddler's jacket at a day care center.

Carley Hernandez told KSAT-TV that she and her husband grew suspicious about the conditions at the Mossrock KinderCare when she would drop off their 20-month-old daughter and her behavior changed.

“My daughter changed drastically. She had started being really, really violent. Hitting, kicking, screaming," she explained.

Hernandez said the child lost some weight and stopped responding to her name.

The couple decided to sew a microphone into their daughter's jacket in order to see if the day care workers were acting appropriately. They were shocked by what they heard on the recording taken Dec. 20.

  • “I’m gonna go and I’m going to beat both of y’all. That’s what I’m going to do.”
  • “I’m about to throw some bitch swings at some of y’all right now.”
  • “Touch it and you die.”
  • “Sit your ass down.”
  • “Shut the fuck up (name redacted)."
  • "Get your ass over there and start jacking off over there.”

The parents immediately took their daughter out of the center and called law enforcement.

“I trusted these people and I don’t know when I’m going to be able to do that again,” said Aaron Hernandez, the father of the child.

“I just felt really deceived and devastated for my child,” said the mother.

The parent company of the day care responded by permanently banning the two employees from working at any of their locations.

A spokesperson for KinderCare released a statement about the horrible incident.

“The behavior of these two teachers is unacceptable," the statement read. "It does not reflect our company values or the high standards we hold ourselves to and will not be tolerated. The teachers involved are no longer KinderCare employees and will never work for KinderCare, or any of our brands, again. We’re committed to creating welcoming, safe and nurturing environments for all children. To help deliver on our commitment to our communities, we regularly train all center staff on best practices, including positive child guidance.”

The couple told KSAT that they were disappointed with the lack of response from the San Antonio Police and Child Protective Services when they were notified about the recording.
