Thug uses metal stick to beat 58-year-old woman waiting for train in apparently unprovoked attack on Brooklyn subway platform

Police told the New York Post a man used a metal stick to beat a 58-year-old woman on a Brooklyn subway platform last week.

What are the details?

The NYPD told the paper that the victim was waiting for a train around 8:30 a.m. Friday on the northbound platform of the Church Avenue G train station in Kensington when the man came up to her and beat her with the metal stick multiple times in the head, leg, and arm.

The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital and treated for bruises and pain, police told the Post.

Police released security video of the middle-aged suspect, the paper said, adding that he was wearing a black T-shirt with an egg and bacon image and multicolored shorts during the apparently unprovoked attack.

The Post said he remained at large.

The incident was yet another violent physical attack that has taken place in Brooklyn over the last two months:

• Earlier in August, a man was caught on surveillance video groping a woman's buttocks on a sidewalk — and then repeatedly punching her in the face after the victim tried to slap him.
• Also earlier this month, a pair of gunmen were caught on surveillance video opening fire on two occupants of a parked car in a middle-of-the-night ambush.
• In early August, a woman was caught on video walking up to another woman and shooting her dead in front of numerous witnesses — and then casually walking back to her vehicle.
• Earlier this month, a man tried to get past a couple blocking a train station escalator, but they wouldn't let him through. Then he was stabbed in his stomach amid an argument.
• In late July, a mugger was caught on video beating a 68-year-old man senseless in broad daylight; police sources said the beatdown commenced after the victim refused to give up his belongings.
• Also in late July, a violent repeat offender was caught on police bodycam video smashing a glass bottle over a New York City police officer's head in an unprovoked attack.
