US soldier opened border gate for illegal migrants, Fox News national correspondent reports

A United States soldier opened a border gate to allow illegal migrants onto private property in Texas, KTTV-TV national correspondent Bill Melugin reported on Monday.

Melugin shared a video on Twitter, which appeared to show a female soldier backing away from a border gate as migrants began to walk through it. Melugin noted that he received the security footage from a contact in Eagle Pass, Texas.

"Crossings have been down big in Texas last few days, but are expected to rise again as cartels/smugglers figure out the post T42 border," he wrote.

The initial, minute-long clip, dated May 15 and shared on social media, showed a steady flow of several dozen migrants walking through the gate onto reportedly private property while a female soldier stood nearby. The footage also captured a Border Patrol boat observing the migrants.

Toward the end of the clip, the camera panned to the left to show a large, white bus parked near the fence, presumably waiting to taxi the migrants to another location.

A second, extended clip of the same video appeared to show the female soldier walking away from the border gate, which subsequently opened to allow the migrants onto the property.

"I asked the Texas National Guard if this is one of their soldiers who opens the gate for the group of migrants. They tell me she is NOT a TX soldier & is not TX ARNG. I'm told she is a Title 10 soldier from the Missouri ARNG under orders from the federal gov & working w/ BP," Melugin stated.

U.S. Northern Command told the New York Post that its soldiers are currently stationed at the southern border to provide support to Border Patrol. It noted that Border Patrol would be the only agency with the ability to open the gate.

The video of the incident ignited outrage online.

One Twitter user responded to Melugin's video, stating, "There's bus waiting for them, how convenient."

Another social media user wrote, "Our own government is against us."

"This is nothing short of an invasion," a third user stated.

Updated Department of Homeland Security data revealed that more than 1.5 million illegals have entered the United States since the start of Biden's presidency. Since October, approximately 530,000 migrants have slipped across the border without being apprehended, also referred to as "gotaways."

The Border Patrol did not respond to a request for comment, the Post reported.
