Women in green bodysuits who punched, kicked NYC subway riders in bizarre attack are identified — and one is arrested

On Friday, authorities identified four suspects believed to be responsible for a bizarre New York City subway attack that occurred last week involving six women wearing neon green full bodysuits. In a video that went viral on social media, the group is seen punching and kicking two 19-year-old women on a Manhattan train around 2 a.m. on October 2.

The New York Police Department released images of the suspected attackers during a news briefing.

One of the suspects, Mariam Cisse Issouf, 26, turned herself in to authorities on Monday and was charged with robbery.

Ciante Alston, Dariana Peguero, and Emily Soto were also identified as suspects, but they have not been apprehended at this time. The other women involved in the incident have not yet been identified.

Authorities reported that all four of the women have criminal histories. They stated that Peguero, 26, has the lengthiest criminal record, with nine previous arrests.

NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said that an accidental bump sparked the vicious attack. The group in green also stole a cell phone and a handbag from the victims.

All four of the women identified live in the same government housing development in Queens, according to Essig.

The two 19-year-old victims were celebrating one of their birthdays when they were approached on the subway platform by the group in green. The mother of one of the victims, who asked to remain anonymous, reported that the group of women was being loud and followed the young women from one train car to another.

The mother expressed frustration that most people on the train did nothing to help the victims.

"They video instead of calling 911," said the mom. "It's so disturbing for me as a mother that this is the world we live in."

The victims were not seriously injured due to the violent attack. However, one of the young women suffered a concussion, and the other sustained bruising on her arms, stomach, and legs and a bite to the shoulder, their mothers reported.

"This is where Mayor Adams and Gov. Hochul need to do something," the mom of one of the teens told the New York Daily News. "All people watching, this is how you get fame and glory. It's grown women dressed as aliens beating on two teenaged girls, and they're all over the internet. This is their opportunity to make an example of them and start bringing New York back with some kind of law."

Over the past two weeks, there have been more than a dozen attacks on New York City transit systems, the New York Post reported.

According to the latest NYPD crime stats, there was an overall crime increase of 26% in August of this year compared to the same time last year.

"Five of the seven major index-crime categories saw increases, driven by a 38% increase in robbery (1,630 v. 1,181), a 34.7% increase in grand larceny (4,687 v. 3,480), and a 31.1% rise in burglary (1,356 v. 1,034)," the report stated.
