‘Kate’s Law’ addresses illegal immigrant crime -- will it make it through the Senate?

House Republicans passed two bills on Thursday intended to crack down on illegal immigrants who have committed crimes. One is a piece of legislation known as “Kate’s law” in memory of Kate Steinle, a young woman who was gunned down in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant who had been deported five times previously; the second bill is the No Sanctuary for Criminals Act.

The two bills must pass in the Senate before they go to President Donald Trump’s desk to be signed. Republicans need bipartisan support in the Senate to pass the legislation; Kate’s Law will need 60 votes, including eight votes from Democrats, to pass.

“We’re taking action to protect Americans & enforce the law,” Speaker Paul Ryan said of the two bills in a tweet on Thursday.

Why are progressives fighting to keep people who have committed multiple crimes in our country? It’s always about a personal agenda, Doc Thompson said on Friday’s “The Morning Blaze with Doc Thompson.” Doc explained the popular talking points that liberals use to fight for “comprehensive immigration reform” as well as the real reasons behind their push for sanctuary cities.

“I still find it amazing that you have to argue for [laws against sanctuary cities],” Kal Elsebai said. “You broke the law, and they’re not going to report you?”
