Mitzi Perdue, the daughter of a co-founder of Sheraton Hotels and the widow of entrepreneur Frank Perdue, shared her secrets for successfully continuing a family legacy in her new book, “How to Make Your Family Business Last.”
Whether or not you have a business, her tips for success are universal: Eat dinner together, spend time with your family and teach your kids to be self-starters. Studies have shown that the simple act of sitting down at a table together as part of your family routine can give kids a sense of security; lead to healthier diets; improve students’ grades; and improve mental and emotional stability.
