Why is the GOP insisting the vote on repealing Obamacare happen on March 23rd?

Wednesday on "Pure Opelka," Emily Zanotti, writer at Heat Street, joined Mike Opelka to discuss today's vote to repeal and replace Obamacare. Opelka asked Zanotti if she knew exactly why the decision was made to force the vote. After having put Zanotti on the spot and getting a plethora of answers, Mike believed he had the real strategy behind the choice.

"I figured it out, and it's not so much as looking forward or looking at the schedule, but about looking backwards — because March 23rd is a big effing deal, if you remember in 2010," Opelka stated, pointing to the fact that President Barack Obama signed the health care overhaul bill, called Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, on March 23, 2010.

Zanotti explained that the GOP will have to end up trading the votes aggressively if they hope to get this done today. "I don't know how close we are to getting that through the committee," Zanotti admitted. "Thank you for writing my story for me," she laughed.

"I just want the credit. I just want Blaze Radio host figures out what the rest of the geniuses couldn't. It's not about the scheduling other than they wanna stick a finger in the eye of the Democrats and say, 'Happy Anniversary, Mr. President,'” Opelka intoned.
