Ted Cruz on exactly how we combat the woke takeover

The radical left has taken over America, and Ted Cruz is fed up.

“We are at a level of crisis you and I have never seen. It’s never happened in our lifetime,” he tells Dave Rubin, who is in agreement.

Cruz has written a new book on this very topic titled "Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America” — and it’s packed with information on how to stop this crisis in its tracks.

The book focuses on different institutions the left has seized control of, like universities, which Cruz calls the “Wuhan lab of the woke virus.”

“That’s where it was invented. It’s where it mutated. It’s where it spread. It goes from universities to K-12 education. From there to journalism, from there to government, from there to big business to Big Tech to entertainment, Hollywood, movies, television, music, sports,” Cruz explains.

The woke virus then made its way to science — which has been where some of its nastiest symptoms have emerged.

But Cruz has several cures.

“Bucket one is sunlight and transparency,” he tells Rubin, adding, “the ideas of the radical left are wildly unpopular and simply exposing them is a powerful tool against them.”

His second idea is “changing the cost-benefit analysis,” which means “increasing the cost for individuals and for institutions to go woke.”

“We’re seeing real victories by using economic power to fight back,” Cruz says, telling Rubin that he remains optimistic.

“I’ve been a conservative my whole life. But I think as conservatives, we can defend very simple commonsense propositions — things like free speech,” Cruz explains. “The left wants to silence their opponents. The right doesn’t.”

Cruz’s third solution is “fighting in the arena of ideas, and, in particular, taking over the organs of transmission of ideas.”

These organs for the transmission of ideas include Rubin’s podcast.

“What you do, Dave, is incredibly important,” Cruz explains, adding that people like Elon Musk acquiring massive platforms is huge in this fight.

“Elon Musk’s buying Twitter was, I think, the single most important step for free speech in decades,” he says.
