President Trump approves steel tariff: 'Make America expensive again

President Donald Trump approved new tariffs Thursday, which will impose a 10 percent tax on on aluminum imports and 25 percent on steel imports. The tariffs are scheduled to take effect within 15 days.

On “The News and Why it Matters,” Glenn and friends discuss the controversial tariffs. “If I were to attach a slogan and put it on a big red hat, I would say "Make America expensive again,” said Chief researcher Jason Buttrill, "because that's exactly what's going to happen. Prices are going to be outrageous.”

"The president is saying this is a national security issue. It is not," added Glenn. "If you look at the steel industry in the late 1980's - 1990's, it was nosediving, but then it came back up and it's stable. And it's providing 80 percent of our steel."
