Senator is accused of racism for saying Facebook user agreement should not be written in 'Swahili
April 11, 2018
CNN anchor Erin Burnett implied that Sen. John Kennedy's comment regarding Facebook's user agreement was racist.
On Tuesday's hearing with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Kennedy implied that the Facebook user agreement is so difficult to read, it might as well be in Swahili. Kennedy suggested that Zuckerberg's company write a more user-friendly agreement in simpler terms.
CNN and a few on Twitter took offense to the senator's comment and implied that it was offensive. When asked if he'd apologize for the comments, Kennedy replied with a flat out "no."
“I think everybody understood the point I was trying to make," said Kennedy.
