Watch: Glenn: DOJ lifts gag order on Russian informant – here's what this means

What happened?

The Justice Department has lifted a gag order on an FBI informant so he can share with Congress what he learned about a Russian bribery scheme connected with Russia’s purchase allowing the country to control a fifth of the U.S. uranium supply.

The Obama administration’s decision to approve a deal letting a Russian energy company purchase Uranium One is being investigated by three congressional committees. Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation are also under scrutiny because Clinton signed off on the deal while serving as Secretary of State and because Russia donated millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation.

What’s the official word on this?

Spokesman Ian Prior said in a statement: "As of tonight, the Department of Justice has authorized the informant to disclose to the chairmen and ranking members of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, as well as one member of each of their staffs, any information or documents he has concerning alleged corruption or bribery involving transactions in the uranium market (emphasis added).”

Glenn’s take:

The Obama administration never wanted us to hear what this informant has to say about Russia’s plan to control America’s access to uranium.

“In Russia, they probably call this business as usual, but in America, we have one word for that type of venture and it is this: ‘illegal,’” Glenn said.
