Watch: Glenn has 4 pressing questions about Michael Flynn’s confession
December 04, 2017
Catch me up.
On Friday, former national security adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his interactions with the Russian ambassador a year ago. Flynn’s talks with the ambassador were reportedly part of a coordinated effort to get started on foreign policy before President Donald Trump was in office.
Glenn’s take:
Bottom line: Flynn’s guilty plea to one count of lying to the FBI doesn’t look good, but it’s not grounds for impeaching Trump on its own.
“If all we get out of this is a lying general and a tax-evading lobbyist, that’s a pretty big letdown,” Glenn said. “Who or what comes next is anyone’s guess.”
Both sides are being unhelpful. Those who are overly eager for impeachment and those trying to overlook the president’s shady dealings both need to wait until we learn more.
Glenn had several questions he’d like answered to know what’s going on:
- What did Flynn promise to the FBI?
- Will the investigation unearth truly damning information?
- Was Flynn’s confession a preamble to worse things?
- Why can’t Trump get more competent attorneys?
