Girl found severed limb in Long Island park, then cops made several more gruesome discoveries, now probing if MS-13 is involved

A girl made a gruesome discovery of a severed limb at a park in Long Island while walking to school on Thursday. Since then, New York police have made several more grisly finds in the park. Authorities are reportedly investigating if the MS-13 gang is involved.

Around 8:40 a.m. on Thursday, a girl spotted a severed left arm on the eastern end of Southards Pond Park in Babylon, New York. The student alerted her father, who then notified the police.

Later that day, a right arm was found by a Suffolk County Police Canine Section dog approximately 20 feet further into the woods from where the left arm was located.

Suffolk County Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer told reporters on Thursday night that the female right arm "[was found], almost in a direct line" with the other arm.

On the same day, a police cadaver dog sniffed out a human leg and another arm nearly a mile from the original horrifying site.

By Friday, law enforcement had made an even more macabre discovery – two decapitated human heads.

A head, leg, and arm are from a woman, and all are believed to be from the same female victim. The woman's remains had no tattoos.

Police suspect that the other two severed arms and decapitated head are all from the same man.

The man had tattoos on his left arms. However, the man's fingerprints were reportedly removed – making it difficult to identify him.

Authorities believe the body parts are fresh.

Beyrer told the New York Post, "Preliminarily, it appears it’s a matter of a small amount of days, if not hours."

"We believe the persons who dumped the bodies here were mobile, pretty confident a car was involved," Beyrer said, according to WNBC.

The Suffolk County Homicide Squad is attempting to identify the two mutilated individuals.

Police are now allegedly probing as to whether the MS-13 gang is responsible for the macabre slayings.

A law enforcement source told the Post, "These were brutal, vicious murders. MS-13 has been known to hack up bodies with machetes."

The source noted that the Central American-based gang is suspected because the bodies were found near where MS-13 had previously committed other crimes.

Suffolk officials confirmed that they have completed the search of the area.
