ICMYI: MORE closed-door health care deals

It’s finally the weekend, and now Congress is headed out of town until July 10.

Let’s catch up for a minute before you start the holiday weekend.

A brave new strategy?

Republicans might be looking at a two-step process to getting rid of Obamacare if the current approach doesn’t work.

The president and some conservative senators are now talking about repealing before they replace the law.

But, for right now, we’ll just have to wait and see, as the backroom deals continue.

This week’s tragic reminder:

The court-ordered death of a British infant reminds us, “There’s nothing compassionate about government-run health care and rationing and waiting lists.”

This week’s insight:

While it looks like the meat of Obamacare is here to stay, “There are, in fact, things that Congress could do right now that would, if not entirely undo the damage done by Obamacare, at least give people more options for dealing with medical issues.”

This week’s other insight:

“Why do we need to destroy the rest of the market for the debate over Medicaid?”

This week’s busted myth:

Everyone’s been setting their hair on fire over that “22 million uninsured” statistic. Here’s some perspective on what that really means.

This week’s kept promise:

House Republicans delivered big with this criminal alien and sanctuary city crackdown.

This week’s big distraction:

GOP lawmakers are criticizing the president for tweets about MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski this morning.

Meanwhile, CR’s Chris Pandolfo writes that POTUS should quit picking twitter fights and focus on his agenda.

Meanwhile, across the street:

The last day of this year’s Supreme Court session included big wins for religious liberty advocates and the Trump administration (but don’t pop the champagne just yet, guys), but also an “indefensible mockery of biology and the Second Amendment.”

RBG gets more notorious:

Meanwhile, with arguments on president Trump’s immigration moratorium set for October, 58 congressmen are calling for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to recuse herself from the case.

This week’s SCOTUS takeaway:

With Obamacare repeal going down in flames and Republicans accomplishing nothing else, Trump needs to notch up some transformational victories on immigration.”

This week’s bombshell:

Remember all those hearings Congress has held about the Trump-Russian investigation/collusion/whatever it’s supposed to be? About that …

This week’s shame:

Not long after imploring Americans to return to civility in the wake of the Alexandria shooting, CNN’s Sally Kohn is right back to stoking division with unhinged rhetoric.

This week’s laugh:

Are you tired of the overblown health care rhetoric? Take a look at this video.

This week’s glass house moment:

Those congressmen who keep calling for Trump’s tax returns? Turns out a lot of them haven’t released their own.

Your weekend read:

Mark Levin’s new book came out on Tuesday; ever wonder where the deep state came from?

This week off the Hill:
