This UFC fighter won't kneel: 'I definitely want' to visit Trump with the title belt

Should he win his upcoming UFC title fight this weekend, Colby Covington plans to bring his championship belt to the White House in honor of the presidency and American institutions.

In interviews this week, Colvington expressed frustration with professional athletes and what he considers their overall disrespect of the country.

“It’s a complete joke,” Colvington said of sports teams in the NFL and NBA boycotting White House visits under President Trump. “The Philadelphia Eagles suck. The Golden State Warriors — they suck. What a joke. You live in America.”

“You stand for this flag. You stand for the troops — the women and men that were brave and put their lives on the line so you guys can have your freedoms today,” he added. “I definitely want to bring the belt to the White House and see Trump.”

Covington will square off against Brazil’s Rafael dos Anjos this Saturday, when the two mixed martial artists will fight for the UFC Interim Welterweight Championship.
