Squires: Too many black men thinking like Ne-Yo would be a real problem for the Democratic Party

Politicians have been attempting to use hip-hop to reach black men for decades. From rappers performing at campaign rallies to appearances on urban radio to talk about hot sauce, elections have a strange way of bringing out the inner “pander bear” for anyone seeking office.

But next year’s presidential election will be different. Why? Because the fight for the black male vote will be determined by two R&B singers. Black men in 2024 have a simple choice: vote for the party that humiliates you publicly like Macy Gray or the one that welcomes men like Ne-Yo to utter “hate speech“ without fear of cancellation.

A recent story from the Washington Post suggests Democrats are concerned that black men, some of the party’s most loyal voters, may not show up at the polls in 2024. The Biden administration is right to worry about black men, because liberals seem committed to alienating men with traditional views.

Nothing makes that clearer than the party’s rejection of human biology and insistence that every American affirm that “men” can have babies. Democrats and Republicans are no longer fighting primarily about marginal tax rates and the debt ceiling. Our political parties have become proxies for much larger spiritual battles about God, life, sex, marriage, and family that all have cultural consequences.

Progressives believe men should submit to and obey the matriarchs and “theytriarchs” who have deemed masculinity toxic. The black feminists who land jobs on MSNBC tell black men to shut up, “get in line”, and follow their lead. To them, progress is a society full of BLM-inspired communes where women raise children together and black men are only needed for three things: votes that give women political power, sperm that gives them babies, and corpses that fuel their activism.

Conservatives, whatever their faults, still allow men to say things they actually believe. This is why so many cheer on any public figure who is brave enough to stand firm in his fight against the rainbow revolution. This includes athletes who refuse to participate in Pride Night activities as well as artists who tell the truth about the sex binary. It’s also why so many conservatives feel let down when celebrities fold when their peers and groups like the Human Rights Campaign start to apply public pressure.

There are millions of black men out there like Ne-Yo. Democrats have been able to count on their votes for decades. But these men see what happens when a man says that there are only two sexes and that switching back and forth isn’t possible. They see the quick apology filled with buzzwords about the nuances of “gender identity.” They hear the embarrassing promises to “better educate myself” on a topic that has been settled since the beginning of time.

The left was trying to “transition” Ne-Yo into Macy Gray, the singer who did a public about-face on the definition of womanhood that felt like a humiliation ritual. Gray described some of the physical differences between men and women during a conversation with Piers Morgan. She quickly bowed to the Pride Power movement and proclaimed that “being a woman is a vibe” in an appearance on the "Today Show” a few days later.

While Macy Gray crawled away to re-education camp, Ne-Yo posted a video on Instagram in which he said he doesn’t apologize for having an opinion. The father of seven reiterated his position that he will never agree with allowing children to make decisions that could be detrimental to their lives, an apparent reference to what the left deceptively calls “gender-affirming care.”

Too many black men thinking like Ne-Yo present a real problem for Democrats, given the high priority the party places on normalizing transgenderism in medicine, law, and culture.

The Washington Post reminded readers that there is one group Joe Biden knows will never divorce him.

Many Democrats interviewed said they were less worried about black women, whose voting enthusiasm has historically been more robust than that of black men. Black women were a huge factor in Biden’s victory in 2020. Advocates expect that trend to continue, particularly with Vice President Harris on the ticket and the appointment of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who both made history as the first black women in their roles.

This is what the decades-long interracial marriage between black feminists and white liberals has created. The left has acted as a husband for low-income black women in cities across the country for at least three generations. Now it functions as a sponsor for college-educated women seeking higher office in Congress or the corner office at Amazon.

What this means for black men is simple: the future of our families depends on our willingness to accept God’s design for the home and use our votes to kick politicians out of the master bedroom they share with black women. This is why black men must begin to reconsider supporting a party that promotes drag queens in school and chastises any man who voices disapproval.

This is not to say that Republicans can be completely trusted. Many self-described conservatives adopt the left’s language when it comes to gender ideology. That said, the party at least acknowledges that the family is the cornerstone of civil society and children have the best social outcomes when they are raised by their married, biological parents in a loving home.

Most elected Democrats live this reality but refuse to promote it publicly. There’s a reason the “Who’s Your Daddy” DNA truck drives around the South Bronx but not Martha’s Vineyard.

So, in essence, black men who vote for Democrats are supporting even more attacks on the family unit. Ne-Yo is the canary in the coal mine. Black men need to understand that we will be compared to white supremacists and bigots if we say we don’t want our sons dressing as princesses at day care or reading "Gender Queer" in middle school. We should expect even more criticism if we co-parent with a woman who sees nothing wrong with either.

This is why a “marriage before carriage” movement is so needed in the black community. Husbands and wives work together to benefit the family unit. But when men and women reject that model, politicians exploit the gender wars for their own benefit.

Having Uncle Sam play the role of provider and protector in cities across the country must end. The same goes for “Uncle Joe” and his use of judicial appointments and other superficial political wins to ensure his black female base never divorces him. Black men can’t expect to put politicians back in their place until we follow God’s design for the family and retake ours.
