'This is a watershed moment': Glenn Beck highlights corruption, cronyism in Smollett case

On Wednesday's show, Glenn Beck took a closer look into the bizarre circumstances surrounding the sudden dismissal of all 16 charges against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett and explained why he believes this latest controversy will be the catalyst to stall the social justice movement.

"This is a watershed moment for the social justice movement and the country," Glenn said. "Now, it could have been Kavanaugh, Covington, the Mueller report — but history will show it was Smollett that brought it all down."

In a stunning announcement Tuesday, the Cook County State's Attorney's office said all charges had been dropped against Smollett, who was accused of staging a racist, anti-gay attack against himself in Chicago last January. Sixteen felony counts were dismissed in exchange for forfeiture of Smollett's $10,000 bond and two days of community service at Rainbow PUSH, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson's civil rights organization.

"The arrogance in this case from the social justice mob is insane. Just who is this prosecutor who let Jussie Smollett go with nothing but the $10,000 bail fee and 16 hours of community service at Jessie Jackson's Rainbow PUSH? I'm sure that was some hard labor there," said Glenn.

The prosecutor in question was Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx, whose 2016 campaign against incumbent Anita Alvarez received a donation of at least $375,000 from leftist billionaire George Soros, Glenn explained.

He also noted that Foxx recused herself from the Smollett case after text messages revealed she was in communication with former Obama aide Tina Tchen, a close friend of the Smollett family.

"What happens to the city [Chicago] after this? What happens to our country? Why seek justice at all when social justice and corruption invalidates the rule of law?" Glenn asked. "That realization, and the accompanying arrogance of those that are now claiming victory, will bring the entire machine to a screeching halt."
