America does NOT have a gun problem, 'we have a mental health problem': Graham Allen talks gun rights with Dan Crenshaw

The vast majority of gun-deaths in this country are from suicide

In his first ever live episode of "Dear America with Graham Allen," Graham joined Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) for his inaugural youth summit in Houston, Texas, to talk about gun rights and how Democratic politicians use misleading statistics and jargon to push unconstitutional gun control legislation.

Addressing a crowd of nearly 2000 high school and college students, Graham explained how gun-control advocates conflate numbers of deaths from gang violence and suicide with mass shooting statistics in order to spread fear and misinformation.

"What they want all of America to think is that 40,000 people were gunned down by mass shooters. That's what they want you to believe, but the actual number is 40,000 gun-related deaths, which the vast majority is from suicide," he said.

"I don't think we have a gun problem. I think we have a people problem, and I think we have a mental health problem that we need to address," he added.

Crenshaw broached the subject of "red flag laws," which allow law officials to take firearms away from people deemed to be a threat.

"The big problem with red flag laws, as they exist now in many states, is that they don't protect due process," he said. "That's unacceptable and I've never supported that ... I would never propose anything that doesn't protect due process."
