EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Paintings done by a rhinoceros at Evansville's zoo over the last several months are now up for sale to the public.
Mesker Park zookeeper Jill Remington tells the Evansville Courier & Press the rhino named Mechi uses paint on her lip to make the paintings. She says Mechi often doesn't want to stop.
Zoo staffers had seen rhinos paint in other zoos, and Mesker's previous rhino had done it and seemed to enjoy it. Mechi began doing the artwork soon after arriving at the zoo in November 2009.
Greeting cards featuring artwork from Mechi and a few other zoo animal artists are for sale, as are canvasses she's painted for up to $125.
