"stigmatizing"
A new, extremely graphic, New York City public service announcement aimed at preventing HIV within the young gay community has some activists up in arms, while city officials say similar ads are effective.
The split is over language and pictures depicting one of the consequences of HIV: anal cancer. New York 1 reports on why some activists think the ad is stigmatizing, and why the city disagrees:

According to NBC's New York affiliate, at least one gay rights group has come out in support of the ad. The full ad can be seen below:
