Rick Perry wouldn't take the $10,000 bet Mitt Romney offered him during Saturday's Republican debate in Iowa over what Romney's book "No Apologies" actually says about his position on health care policy. Why not?
During the debate, Perry said he wouldn't because he's "not in the betting business." But in an interview with the Des Moines Register on Sunday, he said it's because that kind of money is a bit out of his range.
“I don’t have $10,000 to bet and I was a little shocked, frankly,” he said. “[…]That’s just a lot of money for most people and I guess not for Mitt,” he said.
Perry is worth "at least $1.1 million," according to MSNBC.com, so he probably could afford that bet. But point taken.
