January 04, 2012
"That's cold."
It takes a lot of courage to work up the confidence to ask a women to marry you, especially in front of an arena full of strangers. Not only does the gentlemen on one knee most likely have knots in his stomach, but the entire arena its breath ready to explode in applause with the subtle fear in the back of their mind of a cringe-worthy breakdown.
And a breakdown is just what happened during a recent proposal at a UCLA basketball game.
Yahoo Sports reports that midway though a 71-63 UCLA victory over Richmond in L.A. on December 23, one fan put himself on the wrong side of a fail video gone viral. When the kiss cam came to him, he upped the anti, making a heartfelt marriage proposal to the woman who was with him. As the awkward pause extended, it became clar that the proposal would not be a slam dunk but rather a rejection:
Several UCLA players told the Los Angeles Times following the game: "That's cold," Jerime Anderson said. "Tough break," added David Wear. A UCLA spokesman confirmed to the Times's Baxter Holmes that the runaway proposal was indeed not staged.
Poor guy.
