Apparently it doesn't matter if you spew anti-Semitic hate and gleefully preach of the impending destruction of America. At least it doesn't matter if you're being considered for a key to the city of Benton Harbor, Mich.
According to a report, controversial preacher Louis Farrakhan is being given the honor and the key this week. WSJM-RADIO has the report:
The Benton Harbor City Commission on Monday voted to honor the Minister Louis Farrakhan with a key to the city when he visits next week. Farrakhan's set to speak at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at seven PM on Friday, the 27th ... .
City Commissioner Marcus Muhammad told the station, "To have someone of his stature to come to our city I think that's the least we can do."
The only person that voted against the measure, WSJM reports, was Mayor James Hightower. Three other members were not present.
But if Farrakhan's reward surprises you, consider that this isn't the first time he's received such an honor. He's received keys to the cities of Detroit, Charlotte, Memphis, Gary, IN, and it appears Durham and Grensboro (NC). However, he's also been denied the honor in Plainfield, NJ, and Cincinnati.
