Tony Evans on Christianity & Partisan Politics at 'Under God' Conference: 'God Does Not Ride the Backs of Donkeys & Elephants

"Your job is to represent another king in another kingdom."

On Friday evening, evangelical leader Dr. Tony Evans took the stage for "Under God: Indivisible," where he mixed humor with serious subject matter. From partisan politics to the power of the church, Evans rallied the audience and encouraged believers to focus upon their God.

"God's immune system in the culture is the church," Evans said, continuing, "So if cultural colds are now societal pneumonia, it's because the immune system is down."

Evans' challenge to believers was well-received, as they cheered for him throughout his exuberant speech.

The faith leader also delved into partisan politics. Rather than towing the party line, he reminded believers that they serve God and not partisanship.

"God does not ride the backs of donkeys and elephants," he proclaimed. "Your job is to represent another king in another kingdom."

To this, Evans got a standing ovation from the crowd.
