Those Venues Are Stuffed': Olympics Committee Responds to Storm Over Empty Seats

"We've come all the way from the other side of the world to be here...so if people aren't using those seats, by all means, let us in!"

Organizers of the London 2012 Olympics have faced a firestorm from fans who were told the stadium was completely sold-out, only to see photo after photo of rows and rows of empty seats.

"We've come all the way from the other side of the world to be here...so if people aren't using those seats, by all means, let us in!" one girl remarked.

CNN released this report on the matter, which features images of the empty areas of the stadium:

CNN noted that one response from the Olympic Council-- that servicemen are filling the seats-- isn't really an explanation for why there are empty areas.  Rather, it's an attempted solution.

"If the military are there, I don't think there's a single person out there that [thinks] it is shambolic, asking the military if they want to-- given the way they've stepped up to the plate in the last few weeks-- ... whether they would like to watch sport," Sebastian Coe of the Olympic Organizing Committee claimed in a press conference.

But a CNN reporter in London responded: "That wasn't really the point...I think people will agree those seats were available in the first place..."

Coe also claimed that the Olympic venues are "stuffed":

Either way, the CNN report likely had it right when they said that, however the matter is resolved, the world is not likely to see empty stadiums on television as the games progress.

"Listen, you know, I'm sure the Olympic Organizing Committee are going to work really, really hard to make sure these seats are full going forward," she concluded.
