Okla. Mom's Incredible Interview: I Prevented Tornado From Taking My Daughter by Holding on to Her Hair
May 20, 2013
"Our whole house is gone. Everything but where we were is gone."
A stunned Oklahoma mother gave an emotional interview to KWTV on Monday, just a short time after a devastating tornado completely destroyed her home and could have easily injured her and her two children. The mom said she even had to hold on to her daughter's hair as the tornado tried to "take her away."
"It's gone. Our cars and where our house was. Everything is gone," the mother said, wiping tears away as she recalled her horror.
The mother said, following her husband's orders, she took her two kids into the bathtub, put the mattress on top of them and shielded her children.
"Our whole house is gone. Everything but where we were is gone," the mother added. "My husband told us to get in the bathtub immediately and put the mattress on and when we put the mattress on, I got it on top of me and it hit our house and I held [her daughter] in by her hair…it was trying to take her away."
Despite being emotionally shaken, the mother and her daughter and son appeared to be uninjured.
