Stunning Slow-Motion Video Shows What It Looks Like to Shoot an AK-47 Under Water
June 24, 2013
"How does a gas operated rifle work when filled with water?"
We've already seen a few examples of what shooting pistols under water looks like. But the YouTube channel Smarter Every Day has kicked it up a notch, testing out how an AK-47 would fair.
"How does a gas operated rifle work when filled with water?" host Destin asks in the description of the video.
First, Destin puts together the mount for the AK-47 and explains how the firearm works.
The real action gets started when he demonstrates shooting the AK-47 -- in both real-time and slow motion -- in the air.
Then he puts the whole set-up in a tank, fills it with water and gets to experimenting.
Tempered glass tank plus firing an AK-47...lesson learned.

But he was still able to capture the slow-motion footage of the shot. These are a few screenshots showing what it looked like when fired:

Destin tests the gun again in the air to see if it still works after firing under water. You'll just have to watch the clip to find out:
