LAWTON, Oklahoma (TheBlaze/AP) — Police in Lawton say a woman shot and wounded a man during an attempted break-in at her home.

The Wednesday incident occurred around 11 a.m. Police say the woman first heard someone loudly knocking her door and the person didn't reply when she asked who it was.

The suspect began kicking her door and then knocking on windows, which prompted the woman to go to her bedroom. When she saw the man followed and was at her bedroom window and trying to get in, the woman fired at him and he fled. "The woman described the man as wearing a towel on his head," the Lawton Constitution reports.

Police Sgt. Henry Bryant reportedly said the man was caught when he sought hospital treatment of a gunshot wound to his left arm.

After getting medical care, the man was arrested for burglary.
