Jonathan Chait, a writer at New York magazine who comes down on the left side of almost every political issue (he recently wrote a piece titled "Why Letting Everyone Keep Their Health-Care Plan Is a Terrible Idea"), takes exception with a new blog post by President Obama published in the Huffington Post.
"A good blog post might cite and rebut some counter-arguments, throw in some hyperlinks, muster some evidence and maybe a little snark," Chait writes. "Obama’s post does none of these things. It merely regurgitates the premise ... [Huffington Post Editor-in-Chief] Arianna Huffington obviously knows how to attract an audience, but the decision to display such a weak op-ed is bizarre."
Obama's post is a call for Congress to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would "provide strong federal protections against discrimination, making it explicitly illegal to fire someone because of their sexual orientation or gender identity."
Though Chait's post is titled "Obama Is a Terrible Blogger," the actual text in his post calls him "a mediocre blogger."
